FRMCARINA038 (USE_LDC_FOR_BUSINESS_COMPONENTS)

You can configure the FRMCARINA038 (USE_LDC_FOR_BUSINESS_COMPONENTS) setting to use either the live data cache (LDC) or the database to access the data that N4 needs to support the Intra-Block Decker and the Rehandle Decker that are used for N4 Automation decking decisions. In addition, if you configure the Block Impact Minimizer (BIM) problem solution, BIM also uses the LDC or database depending on which is used for N4 Automation decking decisions.

Although the FRMCARINA038 (USE_LDC_FOR_BUSINESS_COMPONENTS) setting is true, by default, you can override it for your site if you choose not to use LDC for any number of reasons, including infrastructure issues that might render the live data cache stale on a node.

  • If FRMCARINA038 is true (default), FRMCARINA034 (ENABLE_LIVE_DATA_CACHING) is true, and Cache Status is Active, N4 uses LDC to access the data required by the Intra-Block Decker and the Rehandle Decker.

    • If the FRMCARINA038 and FRMCARINA034 settings are true but the live data cache is not available (Cache Status is not Active) for some reason, N4 will log a warning in the navis-apex.log file and switch to using the database for data retrieval without any disruption to the feature.

  • If FRMCARINA038 is true but FRMCARINA034 (ENABLE_LIVE_DATA_CACHING) is false, N4 uses the database to access the data required by the Intra-Block Decker and the Rehandle Decker.

  • If FRMCARINA038 is false, N4 uses the database to access the data required by the Intra-Block Decker and the Rehandle Decker even if FRMCARINA034 (ENABLE_LIVE_DATA_CACHING) is true.

    • For example, if you have set FRMCARINA034 (ENABLE_LIVE_DATA_CACHING) as true to use LDC for the Terminal Monitor views and the N4 graphical views, but do not want to use LDC for the Intra-Block Decker and the Rehandle Decker, you must set FRMCARINA038 (USE_LDC_FOR_BUSINESS_COMPONENTS) as false.
